The Big Sit: A Nation-wide Birding Event
The Big Sit, the national birding event designed to promote a casual, non-competitive atmosphere, is taking place on October 12 this year. The event is put on by Birder’s Digest Magazine, and you can register your circle on their website anytime before Oct. 12, 2008.
For those who aren’t aware, The Big Sit is an event in which birders get together and set up chairs in outdoor locations and record how many species they are able to see and hear in a 17-foot radius around their chairs. The event lasts 24 hours.
