Seedcake company seeks record
In Western Michigan, a local company is seeking an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records. The company, Birdola, are the makers of seedcakes for feeding birds. The products are made from sunflower seeds, millet, and various other nuts, seeds and berries held together with a special ‘protein binder’ and hung from trees.
Birdola is unveiling a special creation today – a massive, 700 pound seedcake, to be donated to the Blandford Nature Center in Grand Rapids, MI. It will feed local birds and other wildlife for about three months, experts estimate. This creation, approximately 23 cubic feet in volume, was made in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the company.
Now Birdola is trying to gain recognition from the Guinness World Records, and gain a place in a new category in the Guinness Book. Birdola is the leading producer of bird cakes, and they claim to be the original inventors of the product as well.
